Vendetta is the second game in Konami's Crime Fighters trilogy. Although it features goofy humor, 4-player simultaneous gameplay, and moderate challenge, it breaks from tradition with its huge movesets and strong emphasis on items. In fact, this is hands-down the most weapons-heavy beat 'em up. It's got bats, knives, whips, chains, and even a shotgun.
The Dead End Gang, who dominate Dead End City, are looking to expand their territory. Only their rival gang, The Cobras, stand in their way.
( COBRAS ) MEMBER BLOOD, EX-PRIZE FIGHTER
( COBRAS ) MEMBER HAWK, FORMER PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER
( COBRAS ) MEMBER BOOMER, MARTIAL ARTS
( COBRAS ) MEMBER SLEDGE, EX-MILITARY CONVICT
( COBRAS ) MEMBER KATE, FORMER PROTEGE OF HAWK
Cobras, we kidnapped a chick. You want her back, you know where to go. We'll be waiting...
Vendetta is one of the only brawlers with fighters that feature realistic human proportions. Blood, Boomer, and Sledge have musculature that can be realistically achieved without the use of steroids. Although Hawk is huge, he's actually a little smaller than Hulk Hogan in his prime.
Vendetta is the US version of Crime Fighters 2. Like Crime Fighters before it, several elements were removed in the US release. Most notably, the gay stereotype and humping dog enemies have been completely cut.
( Cobras Member ) Blood

Strong Uppercut
P + K
Strong Attack Knockdown
Blood unleashes an even mightier uppercut that always knocks enemies down. Has good power and always does knockdown but is a little slow and has short reach. Beware of using this at a distance. It's best to add this to the end of a combo, when you're really close to an enemy, or when they're recovering. This even consistently knocks down most bosses, except for Faust and Missing Link.
Leaping Backhand
+ P + K
Jump Attack Knockdown
Blood leaps forward, spinning around and striking enemies with the back of his fist. Use this attack to knock enemies down and then beat them up on the ground. Use it against enemies that are slightly above or below you because most of them punish head-on assaults.

Ground-attack
Blood gets down and beats a grounded opponent repeatedly with his fists. Effective even against bosses. Use this move in conjunction with jump attacks.
Recovery Kick
While grounded, K

Shotgun Blast
While holding shotgun, P
Weapon Attack Knockdown
Blood blasts enemies with his shotgun. Does tremendous damage, hits in a wide range, and does knockdown. Kills almost every single enemy in a single hit, and one blast can hit multiple enemies. Do your best to use your limited ammunition wisely.
Shotgun Finisher
While near grounded enemy and holding shotgun, P
Ground-attack Weapon Attack
Blood blasts a grounded enemy with his shotgun, killing them instantly. It's a waste of ammo so it's not advised.
Throw Item
While holding throwable item, P
Projectile
Blood throws his equipped item. Always does knockdown, but damage varies by item type. Crates and pots do decent damage but break immediately. Barrels and wheels keep rolling, doing extra damage. Buckets get stuck on the enemy's head, rendering them blind. Bricks do tremendous damage and immediately kill most enemies. Dynamite explodes in a huge radius after a short while. Molotovs create a pool of fire that burns for a while.
Blood, Boris from Violent Storm, and Rash from BattleToads are the only brawler characters who constantly wear shades.
Like Matt from Undercover Cops, Blood is always smiling.
Blood's punches are better than kicks. He's more adept at sidestepping in and firing off a quick punch combo than trying to range enemies with kicks.
Blood's fast ground attack is second only to Sledge's. Against difficult opponents, do your best to knock them down and beat them senseless before they get up.
( Cobras Member ) Hawk
Former Professional Wrestler
Hawk is the strongest Cobra, although he has the worst reach. Despite being the heavy character, his movement speed isn't all that sluggish. However, his extremely powerful Elbow Drop ground attack is so slow that it can usually only be used once or twice against a grounded opponent. He's clearly based off of Hulk Hogan.

Haymaker
P + K
Strong Attack Knockdown
Hawk lays his enemies flat with a mighty haymaker. Has good power and always does knockdown but is a little slow and has short reach. Beware of using this at a distance. It's best to add this to the end of a combo, when you're really close to an enemy, or when they're recovering. This even consistently knocks down most bosses, except for Faust and Missing Link.
Frog Splash
+ P + K

Buckets get stuck on the enemy's head, rendering them blind. Bricks do tremendous damage and immediately kill most enemies. Dynamite explodes in a huge radius after a short while. Molotovs create a pool of fire that burns for a while.
Just like the real-life Hulk Hogan, Hawk has a strong daughter that's also into fighting. Seeing as how his daughter's full name is Kate Kutie, that must mean Hawk's full name is Hawk Kutie.
Hawk is the only beat 'em up character whose jeans are ripped.
Hawk's punches have significantly less range than the other Cobras. Learn to use his kicks and jump attack to close in on the opponent.
Hawk's Elbow Drop is the strongest yet slowest ground attack. Usually you can only get off one or two against a grounded opponent. Don't get greedy.
( Cobras Member ) Boomer
Martial Arts
Boomer is the fastest Cobra, although he's marginally weaker than the others. His kicks are the best in the game, and his strong attack is the easiest to use because it has the most range. He might be based off of Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Headlock Punch
While behind enemy, + P,P,P
Grab-Attack
Boomer puts the enemy in a headlock and punches the top of their head three times. You need to approach the enemy from behind to execute this move. It's possible (yet difficult) to execute this in single player.
Strong Roundhouse
P + K
Strong Attack Knockdown
Boomer unleashes a roundhouse that always knocks enemies down. The best strong attack in the game due to its speed, power, and range. It's best to add this to the end of a combo, when you're really close to an enemy, or when they're recovering. This even consistently knocks down most bosses, except for Faust and Missing Link.
Jumping Roundhouse

Buckets get stuck on the enemy's head, rendering them blind. Bricks do tremendous damage and immediately kill most enemies. Dynamite explodes in a huge radius after a short while. Molotovs create a pool of fire that burns for a while.
Boomer was the main character of Crime Fighters (the prequel to this game.) He rescued an entire harem of girls in that one.
Due to the fact that he's a martial artist who specializes in kicking, Boomer may be based off of Jean-Claude Van Damme. However, his face and haircut are more reminiscent of Schwarzenegger.
Boomer's the most well-rounded character, but also the weakest. Learn to use all of his attacks effectively.
Boomer's strong attack is the best in the game because it has the most range. Mastering this technique is the key to playing Boomer well.
( Cobras Member ) Sledge
Ex-Military Convict
Sledge is almost as strong as Hawk and has better range but his special attacks are the worst in the game. His strong and jump attacks are both very hard to hit with. His ground attack, on the other hand, is both fast and powerful. He seems to be a Hispanic version of Mr. T.

Sledge grabs the enemy and punches them in the crotch three times. You need to approach the enemy from behind to execute this move. It's possible (yet difficult) to execute this in single player.
Shoulder Charge
P + K
Strong Attack Knockdown
Sledge unleashes a powerful short-range shoulder charge. Has good power and always does knockdown but is a little slow and has very short reach. Beware of using this at a distance. It's best to add this to the end of a combo, when you're really close to an enemy, or when they're recovering. This even consistently knocks down most bosses, except for Faust and Missing Link.
Flying Headbutt
+ P + K
Jump Attack Knockdown
Sledge executes a strange jumping headbutt. It hits far too high to be useful against anybody but bosses. Consistently does knockdown. Learn to fight without this move.
Knee Drop

Sledge rapidly drops his knee on fallen enemies. The best ground attack in the game. Effective even against bosses. Use this move in conjunction with jump attacks.

Ground-attack Weapon Attack
Sledge blasts a grounded enemy with his shotgun, killing them instantly. It's a waste of ammo so it's not advised.
Throw Item
While holding throwable item, P
Projectile
Sledge throws his equipped item.
Sledge has the same haircut as Mr. T, but lacks the jewelry and is a different race.
Sledge is the only brawler character whose jump attack is a ridiculous flying headbutt. Unfortunately, this move is nearly useless.
Sledge's normal attacks are the best in the game due to their solid speed and damage. His ground attack is also the best for this reason.
Sledge's retarded jump attack is really hard to hit with. Consider avoiding this move altogether. His strong attack also has pathetic range but can be useful to finish out a combo against a close opponent.

Short Plentiful
Stage 1 starts off with a brief fight on a bridge followed by a showdown with Armored Bruiser. Then there's a small skirmish with a couple of mooks and Bat Punks before fighting Buzzsaw Bravado.
Elevator Plentiful Miniboss
The second stage starts with a fight against many knife-wielding opponents. Then you take out Fat Bruiser before going up an elevator and taking on Joe Ohsugi. Next you take an elevator back down (move up and down to dodge fatties) and are ambushed by an Armored Bruiser wielding a huge piece of wood (stand at the bottom of the screen.) Finally, you take out a few Chain Punks before the fight with Missing Link.
Stage 3 starts with a good old fashioned street fight. Keep your distance from the Hard Gays (Jap version only) while fending off a Dominatrix. Then there's a battle against Fat Bruiser and Flasher in a convenience store. Next is another street fight before entering the casino and taking on the Rude Bros.
Short
Bay Area is an extremely short stage with very difficult enemies. Watch out for dogs and then do your best to take out Shotgun Punk quickly so you can use his weapon to easily clear the rest of the stage. Then there's a showdown with Kruel Kurt, who's significantly easier than the Rude Bros.
Elevator
The final(?) stage begins with a hazardous street fight featuring falling debris as well as humping dogs (Jap version only) and wood-carrying Armored Bruisers. Then there's a brief elevator ride up to the Dead End Gang's hideout. In the hallway leading up to Faust, you'll fight tough enemies, motorcyclists, and molotov-chucking goons before facing off against Fat Bruiser and a duo of Armored Bruisers. Finally, you take on Faust (watch out for his final form!)
Boss Rush
The actual final stage is a boss rush. The twist is that you fight two bosses at once: first there's Buzzsaw Bravado and Missing Link, followed by Joe Ohsugi and the Rude Bros. (don't get restrained), and finally Kruel Kurt and Faust. Do your best to use items to their fullest potential and heal wisely. Faust won't pull out his gun this time.
